Ellen (McNally) Reed

Ellen Reed, age 97, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Cedarhurst of Fort Wayne.  

Ellen was born on May 16, 1927, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, to the late Frank James and Mary E. (Varley) McNally. Ellen married E. H. Reed on October 7, 1950, and he preceded her in death on April 26, 2005.

Ellen graduated from Rayen High School and attended Youngstown State University. She completed her internship at St. Elizabeth Hospital and received her Certification as a registered Medical Technologist  A.S.C.P. After working at Parkview Hospital Laboratory in Fort Wayne, she retired after 29-1/2 years of service.  Ellen was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Psi Iota Psi, and enjoyed playing Bridge.

Ellen is survived by four sons, James Reed, Fort Wayne, IN, Kevin (Roxann) Reed, Howard, OH, Ed (Mary) Reed, Grand Rapids, MI, David Reed, Howard, OH; 10 grandchildren; and her beloved sister, Mary Frances Wollet, Girard, OH.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Kennedy, Jack Kennedy, Frank McNally; and one sister, Rita Sellers.

The family would like to thank the Cedarhurst Staff of Fort Wayne for their great help and to Heart to Heart Hospice for the wonderful care their mother received.  A special thanks to Diane, Toots, Barb and Mary Ann Eisenhauer for all the special memories they gave to their mom.

A private family burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown, Ohio.
