Eldon E. Meitzler, 87, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021, at Bethlehem Woods Nursing Home, Fort Wayne, IN.
Mr. Meitzler was born on September 12, 1934, in Huntington, IN, to Godfrey and Hulda (Roth) Meitzler. His parents preceded him in death. Eldon married Roberta Young on August 25, 1956, in Huntington, IN. She survives and resides in Huntington.
Eldon graduated from Huntington Township High School in 1952. He served in the United States Army from 1957-1959. Mr. Meitzler retired after working 33 years at Noll Printing in Huntington. He also worked as a Janitor at St. Mary School and as a school crossing guard for Huntington Catholic School for many years. Eldon was a member of St Mary Catholic Church in Huntington.
Along with his wife, Roberta, he is survived by four sons, Philip (Tami) Meitzler, Fort Wayne, IN, Joseph (Lisa) Meitzler, Middleburg, FL, Michael (Julie) Meitzler, Bluffton, IN, David (Sherry) Meitzler, Roanoke, IN; 10 grandchildren, Danielle ((James) Higgins, Meagan (Jay) Richardson, Allen (Katie) Meitzler, Brittany (Cody) Thorne, Heather (Justin) Zagora, Jessica (Joe) Anderson, Mitchel Meitzler, Ryne Wemhoff, Tyler (Taryn) Wemhoff, Grant Meitzler and 17 great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Carl M. Meitzler; three sisters, Pauline Michel, Lucille Pfister and Bernice Watkins.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, followed by the calling hours from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington.
Additional calling hours will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the church followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson St, Huntington with Fr. Thomas Zehr presiding.
Burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Huntington will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to either of the following, Huntington Catholic School, Masses at St. Mary Catholic Church or Wounded Warriors in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
