Efford Hamilton, 83,Fort Wayne, IN, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2025 at his residence.
Mr. Hamilton was born on September 4, 1942, in Teaberry, KY, to Willie H. and Edna (Newsome) Hamilton. His parents preceded him in death. He married Sara Lee on April 20, 1963, at St. Peter’s UCC, Huntington, IN she passed away Feb. 2, 2022.
Mr. Hamilton retired from General Electric after serving 35 years. He was a member of St. Peters First Church, Huntington, IN.
He is survived by one daughter, Lori Smith, Fort Wayne, IN; one brother, Terry (Frieda) Hamilton, Teaberry, KY; two sisters, Janet Sue (Otis) Fuller, Coldwater, MI, and Janet Joyce (Brian) Hall, Tiffin, OH; and six grandchildren, Gage Girvin, Fort Wayne, IN, Elizabeth (Jess) Hayes, Bloomington, IN, Alexandra (Jacob) Howard, Fort Wayne, IN, Sophia Smith, Fort Wayne, IN, Cameron (Jayna) Smith, Fort Wayne, and Kurt (Zoe) Smith, Fort Wayne, IN.; one great granddaughter, London Girvin; and companion, Marta Caley, Huntington, IN.
Along with his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Michelle Hamilton and Amy Harvey; two brothers, Leroy Hamilton and Gary Hamilton; and two sisters, Billie Joyce Issac and Geraldine Newsome.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 17 , 2025 at 11:30 a.m. following calling from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
Burial will be St. Peter’s First Community Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the London E. Girvin Education Fund in care of McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
