Dr. Frederick Bert Hauenstein

Dr. Frederick Bert Hauenstein, age 88, of Huntington, IN. passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022, at Heritage Pointe of Huntington.

Frederick was born on December 27, 1933, in Huntington, IN. to Lawrence and Susie (Anson) Hauenstein.  His parents preceded him in death.    Frederick married Sandra Ann Doyel on October 16, 1955, in Muncie, IN, and she survives in Huntington.

Frederick was a 1951 graduate of Huntington Township High School. He received his undergraduate and Master’s degree from Ball State University and doctorate from Indiana University. Post-doctoral work was done at Case Western University. While in college he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon social Fraternity, Phi Delta Kappa honorary society.  Frederick also served and was a Captain in the United States Air Force.

Frederick then worked as a psychologist and Dean for 30 years at St. Clair County Community College in Port Huron, Michigan. He was a member of the American Psychological Association, American Men of Science and later worked as a consulting psychologist for the Indiana Dept. of Corrections from 1992-2007. He was a member of First Christian Church and Foxcliff Golf Club in Martinsville, IN.

Along with his wife, Sandra, Frederick is survived by three sons, Erich (Amy) Hauenstein, Huntington, IN,  Aaron (Mindy) Hauenstein, Noblesville, IN, John (Tracy) Hauenstein of Wheaton, IL; one brother, William Gene (Patricia) Hauenstein; one sister, Mary Lacey, both of Huntington, IN; 8 grandchildren, Kassandra, Julia, William, Aubrey, Averey, Sarah, Rebecca, Michael; and three great-grandchildren, Graham, Tucker, and Jack.

To honor the wishes of Frederick there will be no services.

A private burial will be in St. Peters First Community Church Cemetery, Huntington, IN, at a later date.
