Donna Lea (Daly) Heck

Donna Lea Heck, 81, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at her son’s residence in Columbia City, IN.

Donna was born on January 14, 1940, in Lakewood, OH, to William and Charlotte (Allen) Daly. Her parents preceded her in death. 

Donna graduated from Huntington High School in 1959 and from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  She worked as an RN for Huntington Memorial Hospital in labor and delivery and later worked at Huntington University as the school nurse and retired in 2012.   She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Roanoke, IN, and enjoyed singing in the choir.

Donna is survived by three daughters; Heidi (Dave) Driscoll, Uniondale, IN, Kelly (Gus) Apple, Indianapolis, IN, Gretchen (Chuck) Greathouse, Huntington, IN; one son, Andrew (Timothy Magginnis) Casper-Magginnis, Columbia City, IN; one brother, Dennis (Janice) Daly, Gainesville, FL; one sister, Mary (Kyle) Smith, McKinney, TX; 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, James Daly, Michael Daly; one sister, Debra Ann Daly; and Dave Casper, the father of her children.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St. Huntington, IN 46750, with Fr. Dale Bauman presiding.

In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.

Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
