Donald Light

Donald Light, 90, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Majestic Care of New Haven, New Haven, IN.                                               

Mr. Light was born on October 19, 1930, in Roanoke, IN, to Raymond and Lucille (Cline) Light.   His parents preceded him in death.   Mr. Light married Vonetta “Bonnie” Newsome on September 15, 1987, and after 34 years of marriage she preceded him in death on September 17, 2020.

Mr. Light served in the United States Marines during the Korean War from 1951-1953.   He earned a Purple Heart during his service.   Mr. Light worked construction.  He was a member of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans), and VFW Post #2689, Huntington, IN.  Donald enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Don is survived by a niece, Jeri (Rick) Reid; nephews, Jack (Sandy) Danks, Scott (Paige) Danks, Dan Danks, Ron (Mary) Danks, and many other special nieces and nephews.

Along with his wife and parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Light; one sister, Helen Danks; and one nephew, Michael Danks.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 19, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN.

A burial with Military Honors will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
