Debra “Kay” Kriegbaum, age 71, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at The Waters of Huntington.
Debra was born on May 3, 1954, in Marion, IN, to the late Thomas Edward Kriegbaum and Lucille Marie (Gilvin) Jackson.
Debra was a 1972 graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy in Tipton, IN. She went on to Purdue University and received her bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Political Science; and she also attended Huntington University and received her bachelor’s degree in accounting. She was an Activity Director at Norwood’s Nursing Home in Huntington, and then was the Liturgist and Secretary at Victory Noll for many years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Fr. Solanus Guild. She loved planting and tending to her flowers, cookouts with her family and friends, and time at the lake. She loved her nieces and nephews and spending time with them. Debra was a good and faithful servant and had a deep love of her faith and her church.
Debra is survived by two sisters, Diane Hutcheson, Marion, IN, Marcia Kriegbaum, Milwaukee, WI; nieces, Dachia Bogenschutz, Kelly Pearcy; nephews, Jason Hutcheson, Brandon Hutcheson; sister-in-law, Lisa Kriegbaum; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, and many cousins that loved her.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Kriegbaum; and grandparents, Charles and Magdalene Kriegbaum.
Special thanks to her cousin, Theresa and Duane Wade for their love and support during this time.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with Recitation of the Rosary beginning at 8:40 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. all at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN, with Fr. Tony Steinacker presiding.
Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or Cancer Services of Huntington County, in care of McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
