David E. Schnepp, age 89, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024, at his home.
Dave was born on Sept. 9, 1934, in Uniondale, IN, to the late Henry and Evah (Rich) Schnepp. Dave married Margaret M. Schmitt on May 21, 1955, they have been married 69 years, she survives and resides in Huntington.
Dave graduated from Roanoke High School in 1952. He was a licensed electrician and plumber. He worked in maintenance for North American Van Lines until he retired in 1991. Dave then became a consultant with EPA and OSHA and taught classes in these fields. He also successfully ran his own consulting business. Dave was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He enjoyed making birthday cards for all of his family and he took up playing the guitar after retirement.
Along with his wife Margaret, Dave is survived by three sons, Michael (Deborah) Schnepp, Richard (Janene) Schnepp, Robert (Sara) Schnepp, all of Huntington, IN; three daughters, Catherine (Steven) Herber, Roanoke, IN, Donna Schnepp, and Marianne (Ron-deceased) Peterson, both of Huntington, IN; one sister, Cheryl (Roger) Tackett, Huntington, IN; and 17 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren.
Dave was preceded in death by one brother, William Schnepp, and two sisters, Ellen Pinkerton, and Leona Pelz.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. followed by calling hours from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN.
Additional calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry St, Huntington, IN. with Fr. Tony Steinacker presiding.
The burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Huntington Catholic School or Stillwater Hospice in care of McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN, 46750.
