Cristine Shockley Obituary

Cristine Delight (Garrett) Shockley, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, at the age of 86 in Medina, Ohio.

Cristine was born in Monroe, Michigan on January 12, 1939, and dedicated her life to her family. Cristine was a cherished daughter and a caring sister to her two brothers and sister, and she nurtured close bonds that stood the test of time; always there to provide care and support as needed. Cristine was blessed to have two daughters and a son. She found immense joy in raising her children and creating a home filled with love and laughter along with unforgettable memories of family dinners and holidays. Cristine's pride and joy were her children whom she supported with unwavering dedication. She often said life was even better once she became a grandmother. Cristine adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a constant source of love and support in their lives. She was also a beloved aunt, taking on a special role in the lives of her nieces and nephews, offering the same care and encouragement she gave her own children.

Cristine was the long-time owner of the Boondocks in Huntington, Indiana, a restaurant she proudly ran alongside her brother, Dennis Garrett until she retired to Tennessee in 2003 to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She approached running the business with the same love and dedication Cristine gave to her family. Many of her coworkers became some of her closest friends and she helped create a place where everyone was welcome.

Cristine is survived by her children, daughter Sherry Ward and son-in-law Dan Ward; son William Shockley and daughter-in-law Dawn Bell; and daughter Gina Shockley and son-in-law Scott McLaughlin. Cristine is also survived by her grandchildren, Aubree (Jay) Nagel, Gage Shockley, Garrett (Ellen) Ward, Bethany Ward, Cole McLaughlin and Eliana McLaughlin, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Irene and Walter Miller and Carl Garrett; her sister Laura Larr; and brothers Dennis Garrett and Dean Garrett.

Cristine's legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, whose lives she shaped with her unconditional love and devotion.
