Carolyn J. (Saluke) Ruppert, 80, of Huntington, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at Markle Health & Rehabilitation Center, Markle, IN.
Carolyn was born on February 15, 1941, to William and Katherine (Smeltzley) Saluke. She married David F. Ruppert on May 16, 1964, and he survives and resides in Huntington, IN.
Carolyn graduated in 1959 from Huntington Catholic High School. She was a lifetime member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Huntington and a librarian for 20 years in the Children’s Room at the Huntington City Township Public Library.
Along with her husband, David, she is survived by two sons, Rev. David A. Ruppert , Decatur, IN, Chris E. (Michelle) Ruppert, Fort Wayne, IN; one daughter Lisa R. Hunt, Huntington, IN; one brother, William M. Saluke, Dayton, OH; five grandchildren: Matthew J. (Leah) Hunt, Katie N. Hunt, Lindsey A. Hunt, all of Huntington, IN, Ryan M. Ruppert, Alex D. Ruppert, both of Fort Wayne, IN; and one great grandson, James A. Hunt.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald E. Saluke, Robert Z. Saluke; two sisters, Mary K. Hoch, Marilyn R. Gnau; and a granddaughter, Rachel M. Ruppert.
On Thursday, September 23, 2021, the Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 3:30 p.m., followed by the calling hours from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN
Additional calling hours will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m., at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, IN with Fr. Tony Steinacker and Rev. David A. Ruppert officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be offered for Masses or to the NTSAD (National Tay-Sachs & Allied Diseases Association, Inc.) in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
