Carol L. (Young) Striggle Grove

Carol L. Striggle Grove, age 89, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at The Waters of Huntington.

Carol was born on November 25, 1934, in Huntington, IN, to the late Archie and Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Pfister) Young.

Carol married Morris Lee Striggle on June 20, 1953, and he preceded her in death on June 28, 1998.  Carol’s second marriage was to Thomas M. Grove on July 16, 2005, and he preceded her in death on November 29, 2008.

Carol was a 1952 graduate of Huntington Catholic High School.   She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, in Huntington, IN.

Survivors include one son, Mark A. (Connie) Striggle, Huntington, IN; three daughters, Beth A.  (Donald) Okuly, Huntington, IN, Margaret A. Culp, Lamar, MO, Jody L. (William) Hall, Lexington, OH; three stepsons, Stephen (Daneen) Grove, Huntington, IN, Michael (Lisa) Grove, Carmel, IN, John (Sheri) Grove, Huntington, IN; and two stepdaughters, Susan (Thomas) Swaidner, Julie (Steven) Godfroy, both of Huntington, IN.    Carol is also survived by one brother, James (Joyce) Young, Huntington, IN; one sister, Janet (Johan) Brongers, FL; sister-in-law, Jacklyn Young, Huntington, IN; 4 grandchildren and 18 step- grandchildren; two great grandsons; and three great granddaughters.

Along with her parents, and two husbands, she was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Holzinger; one brother, Martin “Gene” Young; sister-in-law, Caroline Young; and brother-in-law, James Holzinger.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, IN, 46750.

Calling hours will follow the Rosary from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.

A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow the calling hours at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 9, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry St., Huntington, IN, with Father Tony Steinacker presiding. 

In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to either Masses, Alzheimer’s Association or American Heart Association in care of McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.

Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory, Marion, IN.
