Carla E. (Ferris) Knowles

Carla E. (Ferris) Knowles, 64, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020, at her residence.          

Carla was born on January 3, 1956, in Decatur, IL, to Bobbie and Kathleen (Gray) Ferris. Her parents preceded her in death.   She married Roy A. Knowles on April 6, 1974.  He survives and resides in Huntington.

Carla was a 1974 graduate from Eisenhower High School in Decatur, IL.  After high school she graduated from Indiana Business College as a Medical Assistant.  Carla loved life, her family, her friends, and the joy of being outside.   She was an expert gardener with her flowers and vegetables and she loved to go camping, was a phenomenal cook and definitely was a fashionista.  Carla was truly an artist, she was a music lover, she painted, made jewelry and in her earlier years she was a ballet dancer.  She found a love for God by “keeping it simple”.

Along with her husband, Roy, Carla is survived by two daughters, Casie Knowles, Chicago, IL, and Ellette (Joshua) Knowles-Lawson, Indianapolis, IN; one son, Kegan (Megan) Knowles, Fort Wayne, IN; one brother, George Ferris, Decatur, IL; one sister, Judy (Mike) Edwards, Alton, IL; and two grandchildren, Brenner Ash Knowles and Elias Lawson.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.

Additional calling hours will be on Friday, January 31, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to the funeral at the funeral home.

A Funeral service will follow the calling hours on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home with Jean and Bob Landers officiating.

A graveside burial will be at Clear Creek Cemetery, Huntington, IN.

Memorials will be collected and sent to an organization that helps to provide clean water for children in Africa in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.
