Barbara Jean (Waikel) Vance

Barbara Jean Vance, 70, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at her residence in Huntington.

Barbara was born on May 10, 1950, in Huntington, IN, to Elmer T. and Bernice Catherine (Teusch) Waikel.  Her parents preceded her in death.

Barbara was a 1968 graduate of Huntington Catholic High School.  Prior to retirement she worked many years at Norwood Nursing Home as a CNA and in housekeeping.  She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Huntington.

Barbara is survived by one son, Michael David (Amy) Vance, Fort Wayne, IN, two daughters, Melissa Ann (Lawrence) Lucketti, Fort Wayne, Tina Marie (Luke Herrick) Covey, Huntington, IN; four brothers, Larry A. (Susan) Waikel, Elmer F. Waikel, both of Huntington, IN, Steven J. (Johanna) Waikel, Fort Wayne, IN, Patrick S. (Cindy) Waikel, Bluffton, IN; one sister, Mary Ann (Jeffrey) Hildebrand, Huntington, IN; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 6:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home 715 N. Jefferson St. Huntington, IN, with Fr. Tony Steinacker presiding. 

A private burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Huntington County Humane Shelter in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.
