Amelia "A. J." Jo (Ruppert) Broxon

Amelia Jo “A.J.” Broxon, age 58, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at her home.  A.J. was born on April 24, 1965, in Huntington, IN, to Philip D. and Sharon (Cook) Ruppert.  Her father preceded her in death.   She married John Broxon on April 16, 1988, and he survives and resides in Huntington.

A.J. was a 1983 graduate of Huntington North High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Ball State University in 1987. She was a social worker for Pathfinder Services and Kids Kampus for many years.  She was a life member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntington.

Along with her husband, John; and mother, Sharon; she is survived by two daughters, Christy Broxon and Andrea Broxon, both of Huntington, IN; and one sister, Melinda Scott, Fort Wayne, IN.

Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2023, followed by the calling hours from 4:00p.m.to 7:00p.m. at McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.

Additional calling hours will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a  Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN, with Father David Ruppert and Father Thomas Zehr presiding. 

A private burial will be held at a later date at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to any of the following: Youth Services Bureau, Pathfinder Services or Kids Kampus in care of McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN  46750.
