Allen Wayne Hinds, age 94, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Coventry Meadows in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Hinds was born on January 6, 1932, in Huntington, IN, to the late Kirby Paul and Mary E. (Pinkerton) Hinds. He married Sue C. Williams on July 5, 1952, in Huntington, IN, and she preceded him in death on December 5, 2014.
Allen graduated from Huntington High School and then proudly served in the United States Army with the 11th Airborne from 1953-1955. Allen was an auto mechanic and did maintenance for the Sheriff’s Department prior to his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion Post #85 in Huntington and a loyal fan of Notre Dame.
Allen is survived by one daughter, Kimella (Randy) Fisher, Roanoke, IN; a sister, Tonya Carlson, PA; 8 grandchildren, Brandi Fisher, Jana (Brad) Gwynn, Suzanne (Nate) Decker, Craig (Richelle) Hinds, Shona (Adam) Pinkerton, Cameron (Jordian) Hinds, Melissa (Brian) Katschke, Stephanie (Chris) Lucas; and many great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents and wife he was preceded in death by three sons, Gregory Wayne Hinds, Steven Charles Hinds, Stephen Hinds; two brothers, Dwight Hinds, John Hinds; and one sister, Ella Marie Hendrickson.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
A private graveside service and burial will be at Mt. Etna Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Stillwater Hospice or American Humane Society in care of McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.
