Richard J. Mann

Richard J. Mann, 87, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at Oakbrook Village, Huntington, IN.

Richard was born on February 3, 1932, in Fort Wayne, IN, to Kenneth and Keturah (Fox) Mann who preceded him in death.  Richard married Shirley R. Earhart and she survives.

Richard was a 1950 graduate of Huntington High School and then graduated from Purdue University with a Mechanical Engineering degree.   He served in the United States Army overseas in Korea.   Upon returning, he worked and became owner of Mann’s Incorporated for 50 years.   He was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church and served on many committees. He was a Trustee for the North Conference for U. M. Church, member and President of the Plumbing Organization in Fort Wayne, a member of the John Purdue Club and a board member for Mt. Hope Cemetery for 30 years.

Along with his wife, Shirley, he is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Michael) Holthaus, Mason, OH, Emily Mann, Fort Lauderdale, FL; and one granddaughter, Gretchen Holthaus.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, William Mann.

To honor the wishes of Richard there will be no calling hours or service.

A private graveside burial will be held at a later date at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery, Huntington, IN.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to either of the following; the Richard J. and Shirley R. Mann Scholarship at Huntington University, Oakbrook Village, or Donor’s Choice.
