Randell E. “Randy” Tackett, 72, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2019, at his residence in Huntington.
Randy was born on July 27, 1947, in Melvin, KY, to Millard and Geraldean (Vance) Tackett. His parents preceded him in death. Randy married Carol Ann Miller on May 9, 1970, in Clintwood, VA. His wife survives.
Randy was a graduate of Huntington North High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked maintenance at Majestic in Huntington for over 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #777, Indianapolis, IN. He loved old cars and primitive antiques. You could usually find him building or remodeling something.
Along with his wife, Carol, of 49 years, he is survived by, one daughter, Wendi Tackett, Huntington, IN; one brother, Raymond (Pamela) Tackett, Andrews, IN; 6 sisters, Glenda (John) Jent, Warren, IN, Phonetta (Tom) Berry, Huntington, IN, Lois Williams, Huntington, IN, Rita (Donald) Cross, Huntington, IN, Brenda (Larry) Jenks, Markle, IN, Sandra Kirk, Huntington, IN; two grandchildren, Dillon Tackett (fiancé’ Tinicha Bennett), Miles Matthew Tackett (fiancé’ Ashley Boggs), Warren, IN; one great granddaughter, Braelyn Tackett; niece, Nickie (Michael) Stinson, Columbia City, IN; and Randy had many more loving nieces and nephews that he cherished.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Tackett; and one brother, Harold Tackett.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at McElhaney- Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN.
A private graveside will be held at a later date at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
