Philip B. Cotton

Philip B. Cotton, 67, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018, at Van Wert Community Hospital, Van Wert, OH.  

    Mr. Cotton was born on July 27, 1951, in Huntington, IN, to Robert and Marjorie (Vollmar) Cotton.  His parents preceded him in death.   Mr. Cotton married Sherry Smart on December 1, 1972.   She survives and resides in Huntington, IN.

Mr. Cotton graduated from Huntington High School in 1969.   He served in the United States Army.    Phil retired from Cotton Car Company.   He was a member of the VFW #2689, Kiwanis, and the Friday Night Downtown Athletic Club.   Phil was a member of the United Brethren Church.  Phil was well known and commonly referred to as “Uncle Phil”.

In addition to his wife, Sherry, he is survived by two sons, Chad P. (Anne-Marie) Cotton, Bushnell, FL, Benjamin B. (Sylwia) Cotton, Solon, OH; one daughter, Andrea J. Cotton, Fort Wayne, IN; two brothers, James (Kathy) Cotton and Michael (Danna) Cotton, both of Huntington, IN; two sisters, Sharon (Larry) Lawrence, Huntington, IN, and Cathy (Curt) Cooley, Markle, IN.   Mr. Cotton is also survived by two granddaughters, Olivia Grace Cotton and Mayabella Hope Cotton. 

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Patricia Glass; and one niece, Kristen Cooley.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at The Well, 1883 Old US Highway 24, Huntington, IN, 46750.

A Memorial Service will follow the calling on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at 4:00 p.m. at The Well, 1883 Old US Highway 24, Huntington, IN, with Senior Pastor Josh Kesler officiating.

A private burial will be held at a later date at Marion National Cemetery, Marion, IN.   

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Union Church Youth Group, Life Church Youth Group or any other Youth Program of your choice in Huntington County in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN, 46750.
