Palmer Lee Ness

Palmer Lee Ness, 90, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018, at 9:30 p.m. at Tipton Place in Huntington, IN.  

 Palmer was born on August 8, 1928, in Huntington, IN, to George A. and Mary (Palmer) Ness. His parents preceded him in death.  Palmer married Helen Louise Johnson on August 29, 1959.  She preceded him in death on December 8, 1972.

Palmer was a 1946 graduate of Roanoke High School.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He was a self-employed life-long farmer in Huntington County.  Farming and being neighborly was his life.   He was a devout Catholic and a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Huntington.  He was a one time member of Bippus Lions Club and was a hard core Notre Dame Football fan.   

Palmer is survived by two sons, Chad L. (Katie) Ness, Highland Park, IL, Lance W. Ness, Huntington, IN; one daughter, Marina L. (Sean) Taylor, Peoria, AZ; three brothers, George (Phyllis) Ness, Carl (Sondra) Ness, Steve (Sherrill) Ness, all of Huntington, IN; one sister, Mary Ann Ness, Huntington, IN; sister-in-law, Patricia M. Ness, Huntington, IN; 6 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Along with Palmer’s parents and wife he was preceded in death by one daughter, Ann Marie Ness; one brother, Joseph “Joe” Ness; and daughter-in-law, Tricia Ness.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at McElhaney - Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN.

Recitation of the Rosary will be on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Additional calling hours will be prior to the Mass on Monday, November 19, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, IN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 19, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, IN.

Burial with Military Rites will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
