Naoma L. (Hickox) Whiteman

Naoma L. Whiteman, 79, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at 8:45 p.m. at Oakbrook Village, Huntington, IN.          

  Mrs. Whiteman was born on September 12, 1938, in Lakeland, GA, to Matthew and Nancy (Futch) Hickox.  Her parents preceded her in death.  Mrs. Whiteman married Joseph Eugene Whiteman on November 17, 1954.  He preceded her in death on January 12, 1992.

Naoma worked at Kids Kampus for many years as a Lead Teacher for the before and after program.   She was a member of Abundant Life Tabernacle, Wabash, IN. 

Naoma is survived by one son, Timothy Eugene (Carol) Whiteman, Huntington, IN; three daughters, Kimberly Jane Thompson, Jennifer Lee (Dan) Schroder, both of Huntington, IN, Jacqueline Jo (William) Honeycutt, Marion, IN; and one sister, Molly (Gene) Johnson, Blackshear, GA.   She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimpsey Hickox, Eugene Hickox; two sisters, Opal Godwin, Saidie Fussell; and one granddaughter, Nicole Goetz.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 10, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN.

Additional calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN,  46750, with Rev. Arthur Vanderhoff and Rev. Jeff Porter officiating.

Burial will be in Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
