Donna Lou (Lahr) Anderson

Donna Lou Anderson, 87, of Huntington, IN, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2018, at 1:43 a.m. at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN.

  Mrs. Anderson was born on April 24, 1931, in Huntington, IN, to Cleatus A. and Lucy (Sloniker) Lahr.  Her parents preceded her in death.   Mrs. Anderson married Paul “Dick” R. Anderson on April 20, 1951, in Huntington, IN.  He preceded her in death on June 24, 2004. 

Mrs. Anderson was a 1949 graduate of Clear Creek High School.  She and her husband farmed in Clear Creek Township for 42 years and retired in 1993. She was an active member of the former East State Street Church of God that was in Huntington. Donna was co-organizer of the Ole Gray Barn Craft Show for many years.  She sold Longaberger baskets and loved antiques.  Her pastimes included watching Purdue Basketball and Western movies.  Above all, Donna valued time with her family.

Surviving is one son, Rex R. (Mickey Hughes) Anderson, St. Louis, MO; one daughter, Jane Widmer, Fort Wayne, IN; daughter-in-law, Lois Anderson, Munster, IN; son-in-law, Lee Pense, ID; one brother, Philip Lahr, Fort Wayne, IN; 7 grandchildren, Ashley (Matt) Gilmore, Renee (Jeremy) Cook, Kristy Anderson, Jake Anderson, Maggie (Joshua) Phelps, Zachary Pense, Brandon Pense; and five great grandchildren, Holden, Haddie, Eloise, Rowan and Harrison. 

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, Gary R. Anderson; one daughter, Linda L. Pense; one sister, Miriam R. Whitestine; and brother, Wendall N. Lahr.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN.

Funeral services will follow the calling on Saturday, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Shock Cemetery, Huntington, IN.

    In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Cancer Services of Huntington County and/or American Heart Association in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.
