Charles W. “Bud” Rogers, 87, of Fort Wayne and formerly of Huntington, IN, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2019, at 6:40 a.m. at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN.
Mr. Rogers was born on March 25, 1932, in Azalia, MI, to Charles A. and Gladys (Covell) Rogers. His parents preceded him in death. Charles married Carol A. Ade on March 1, 1957; and she preceded him in death on May 28, 1989. He then married April Miller on October 30, 2001. She survives and resides in Fort Wayne.
Charles was a 1950 graduate of Walkerton High School and attended Valparaiso University. Charles joined the United States Navy in 1951. In 1961, he opened Rogers Men’s Formal Wear in Fort Wayne, IN, and he owned and operated the store for 50 years. Mr. Rogers was also instrumental in planning and developing the Huntington Airport in the mid 60’s.
Charles is survived by two sons, David (Guna) Rogers, Indianapolis, IN; Michael (Michelle) Rogers, Greenfield, IN; two step-daughters, Amy (Rick) Hilderley, Bronson, MI, Kelly (Joe) Roney, Rockford, MI; one brother, Robert (Carolyn) Rogers, Huntington, IN; one granddaughter, Ruby (Dan) Kaczmarek, Clear Lake, IA; one step-grandson, Alex Skudrovskis; 6 step-granddaughters, Kelsie Smith, Marlena, Madison, Melanie, Jillian, Kamryn; and 3 great granddaughters, Valerie, Brooklyn and Khloe.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 30, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN.
A Funeral Service will be held following the calling on Monday, September 30, at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Ray Scribner officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Peter’s First Community Church Cemetery, Huntington, IN.
